Hello Green-Friends!
How are you all?
Good Spring so far?
Well, I am having a phenomenal spring... but it could be better... i
need some help from you.
I entered an International competition called the Softie Awards, for
best soft sculpture or plush work in a number of different categories.
Out of thousands of entries, I was chosen as one of FIVE finalists in
not one, but TWO categories (only 5 other artists did that!). A team
of very important/ influencial judges narrowed the field down to the
best 60 (5 in each category) and now they are opening the voting up to
the public--- this is where you come it!
The two categories I am in are:
FUNCTIONAL- with an object called "Snail Hat"
and
HOLIDAY- with a Knitimal named "Lammy"
The prizes range from "ok" to "WOW!", including possible book deals,
character development and a spot in a coveted retail shop. Aside from
being amzing press for me (and MICA, and the retail shops carrying my
work), it will add some fabulous "street cred" to those Knitimals and
Greenstarstyle pieces already out in your collections... plus, it'll
make me very very very happy, which i know you all want.
The voting process is ridiculously easy, but unfortunately, you can
only vote once on a single computer. I know, I was disappointed by
that too, since I personally have almost a dozen email addresses. SO,
here's what we need to do--- I need each of you to vote from every
computer you can get on--- I'm talking laptops, desktops, libraries,
internet cafes, strangers' homes, Best Buy's, the Mac stores---
anywhere, and THEN, i need you to forward this onto everyone you know
(and you can feel free to tell them how nice I am, if you think
that'll help).
And then ask them to pass it on, and so forth. Post it on your
websites, on MySpace, on your blogs; hand out postcards or stickers;
stand at peoples computers with them and force their hands!
Voting closes March 30th, so before you forget, click the link at the
bottom of this email, vote and then forward.
If i...(when i?) win, I'll make it worth your while----- send me an
email after you vote and I'll send you a coupon for 20% off your next
purchase from greenstarstudio (i have at least 3 shows so far this
spring/ summer, so you'll definitely have a chance to shop in person,
if not online).
I just voted myself and it was very easy (you don't have to sign up
for an account or enter any personal info or anything--- just look at
pictures and make a selection).
*the process goes like this:
1.) you're taken through each category, shown all the possible winners, and
at the bottom of the screen you click on the button for your favorite, then
click "select".
2.) The HOLIDAY category is number 8--- my entry is LAMMY (he's the first
one pictured in the group--- pink and red striped, sitting on a star
blanket). When the names are listed for the vote, he is the LAST one in the
group and called "Valentine Lammy".
3.) the FUNCTIONAL category is number 13--- my entry is SNAIL HAT (the third
image--- Ashley wearing it, the background is teal blue). When the names are
listed for the vote, "Snail Hat" is second.
